Lead Tags
What are Lead Tags?
Lead Tags are labels you can attach to leads to categorize and organize them beyond the standard status pipeline. Tags are flexible — you can create any tags that make sense for your business and assign multiple tags to a single lead.
Why use Lead Tags?
| Use case | Example |
|---|---|
| Categorize leads | Tag leads as "Hot", "Warm", or "Cold" based on interest level |
| Track source | Tag leads by where they came from — "Facebook Ad", "Website", "Referral" |
| Segment for campaigns | Use tags to create targeted groups for drip campaigns |
| Flag for follow-up | Tag leads as "Urgent" or "VIP" for priority handling |
Creating Tags
- Go to the Leads page
- Open a lead's detail view
- In the Tags section, type a new tag name
- Press Enter or click Add to create and assign the tag
Tags are created on-the-fly — just type a name and it becomes available for all leads.
Assigning Tags to Leads
- Open a lead's detail view
- In the Tags section, click Add Tag
- Select from existing tags or type a new one
- The tag is instantly assigned to the lead
You can assign multiple tags to a single lead.
Removing Tags from Leads
- Open a lead's detail view
- In the Tags section, find the tag you want to remove
- Click the X button on the tag
- The tag is removed from this lead (but remains available for other leads)
Using Tags for Filtering
Tags can be used to filter leads on the Leads page:
- Go to Leads
- Use the Tag filter to select one or more tags
- The list shows only leads with the selected tags
Using Tags with Drip Campaigns
Tags can trigger drip campaigns:
- When creating a campaign, select On Tag as the trigger
- Choose the tag that should start the campaign
- Whenever that tag is added to a lead, the campaign starts automatically
tip
Combine tags with drip campaigns for powerful automation. For example, tag a lead as "Interested in Product X" and automatically start a nurturing sequence about that product.
Tips
- Keep tags consistent — Use a naming convention so your team uses the same tags
- Don't over-tag — Too many tags become hard to manage. Stick to categories that add real value
- Review tags periodically — Remove tags that are no longer used to keep the list clean
