Preview and Submit Your Template
Before submitting, always review how your message will look. The creation page gives you two ways to check your work.
WhatsApp Preview (Right Panel)
On the right side of the screen, you see a live preview that looks like an actual WhatsApp message. This updates in real-time as you type.

- Header — Image/video thumbnail or header text
- Body — Your message with variable placeholders
- Footer — Footer text in gray
- Buttons — Clickable button previews at the bottom
Variable Highlighting in Preview
- Yellow background = Variable example is missing (you need to fill it in)
- Green background = Variable example is provided (ready)
Mobile Preview
On smaller screens, the preview and form don't fit side by side. Use the eye/edit toggle button at the top right to switch between:
- Form view — Edit your template
- Preview view — See how it looks
Generated JSON (Below Preview)
Below the WhatsApp preview, you see a Generated JSON section. This shows the data that will be sent to WhatsApp when you submit.

- This is useful if you need to share it with support for troubleshooting
- You don't need to understand or edit this — it is generated automatically
Progress Stepper

| Step 1: Basic Info | Template name, category, language, type, and parameter format are all filled in correctly |
| Step 2: Components | At least one component (body) is added and valid |
| Step 3: Variables | All variable examples are filled in |
The Create Template button stays disabled (grayed out) until all three steps show green checkmarks.
Submitting the Template
Once everything is ready:

- Check that all three steps show green checkmarks
- Click the Create Template button at the top right
- A loading spinner appears while the template is being submitted
- If successful:
- You are taken back to the Templates listing page
- Your new template appears with Pending status
- If there's an error:
- An error message appears at the bottom of the screen
- Fix the issue and try again

Checking approval status
- Go to the Templates listing page
- Click Sync to refresh statuses from WhatsApp
- Look at the Status column for your template
WhatsApp typically reviews templates within minutes to a few hours. In some cases, it may take up to 24 hours. Click the Sync button periodically to check.
If your template is rejected
Common rejection reasons:
| Reason | What it means | How to fix |
|---|---|---|
| Tag Content Mismatch | Content doesn't match the category you selected | Change the category or rewrite the content |
| Promotional | Utility/Auth template has promotional content | Move to Marketing category or remove promotional text |
| Abusive Content | Message contains inappropriate content | Rewrite the message |
| Invalid Format | Template structure has errors | Check formatting rules and resubmit |
| Scam | Message looks like a scam | Rewrite to be more professional and transparent |
To fix a rejected template:
- Click Edit on the rejected template
- Read the rejection reason
- Make the necessary changes
- Click Update Template to resubmit
